Skill Mastery (Skill PT)

Skill Mastery (Skill PT)

Skills are an important aspect of developing your character. The main risk of mismanaging your character comes from combat skills.

Skill PT (hereafter referred to as "skills") and combat proficiency (PT) are different. When you start playing and choose your class, you gain class-specific skills.

Warriors receive melee skills and buffs.
Rangers receive ranged skills and buffs.
Mages receive magical skills and buffs and must pay to learn new spells.

To view your skills, press "S" in-game. This opens the skill window as shown below.

Skills are divided into categories. Each skill has a proficiency bar showing min and max PT, similar to combat proficiency.

Every time you use a buff on yourself or another player, or attack using a skill (monster or other race), you gain a small amount of skill experience, increasing the skill’s proficiency.

Use skills to level them up. It’s that simple.

Each skill also has a level.

Skill levels

When the skill proficiency bar reaches 100%, the skill level increases by 1.

Each skill has 7 levels, ultimately reaching “GM”. After this, the skill cannot be leveled further.

Skills are grouped into categories: melee, ranged, and magic/power skills. Switch between them using the tabs at the top of the skill window.

Further division occurs by tiers. Each class starts with the first tier. There are two additional tiers (middle and advanced), unlocked after achieving a certain amount of Skill PT (earned by using skills as described above). You can track current and max Skill PT in the skill window.

Skill PT tiers

The final tier contains class-specific skills for players after changing class at levels 30 and 40. These skills cannot be leveled.

Class-specific skills at level 30 and 40

Remember, to use attack skills, you must be equipped with the appropriate weapon. Sometimes you may want to use another class’s weapon.

For example, Acretian launchers can benefit from second-tier ranger skills, which increase ranged attack distance. To gain this effect, you must level your ranged combat skill (bows, throwing weapons, firearms), since launchers are not considered ranged weapons. This allows you to use “Fast Shot” to gain Skill PT and unlock the second tier.

Mages should pay special attention to magical skill proficiency. Leveling these correctly ensures your character doesn’t become underpowered. You must level beginner-tier skills to 30 before unlocking preferred mid-tier skills.

Example scenario: Early on, you may focus on water and fire skills, ignoring earth and wind. Upon reaching level 30, only water and fire mid-tier skills unlock. New locations with advanced spells (e.g., “Forgotten Sands”) may require earth skills, so if you haven’t leveled them, progress will be harder. Always level all basic skills and add them to your hotbar early.

Proper skill usage ensures readiness in combat. Level all base-tier skills to unlock future tiers efficiently.

The red box in the image below shows your total beginner skill PT (e.g., Beginner Skill PT 1/60), which you must progress to access mid-tier skills.

Green indicates your skill levels; each increase slightly raises your Average Beginner Skill PT.
