Combat Skill

Combat Skill (PT)

So, PT (Combat Skill) are specialization points – one of the three development lines of a character. Let's look at what types exist, how and why to level them, and give a few tips.

Melee PT – skill in using melee weapons and corresponding armor.

How to level: Take a melee weapon and attack, either hitting normally or using class skills. Two-handed or one-handed, slashing or bludgeoning – it doesn’t matter. You need to deal more than 3% of the enemy's HP in a single hit.

Why it's needed:

  1. Allows equipping higher level weapons and armor
  2. Increases minimum and maximum melee weapon damage
  3. Increases SP

Purpose:

  1. Melee weapons are the most durable in the game. You’ll spend fewer potions while leveling and survive longer in fights with other races.
  2. With melee weapons, you won’t spend money on ammo, and can efficiently deal damage thanks to high attack speed and strong hits.
  3. Melee weapons help if you run out of ammo.

Ranged PT

Ranged PT – skill in using ranged weapons and corresponding armor.

How to level: Take a ranged weapon with ammo and shoot at enemies, either normally or using class skills. If shooting isn’t your thing – use throwing knives. You must deal more than 3% of the enemy's HP in a single hit.

Why it's needed:

  1. Allows equipping higher level weapons and armor
  2. Increases minimum and maximum ranged weapon damage
  3. Increases SP

Purpose:

  1. Ranged armor increases movement speed — you’ll reach spots faster, chase enemies, or escape. Below level 31 bonus is 0.1, above — 0.2.
  2. Ranged armor increases elemental damage resistance (fire, earth, etc.). Higher armor level gives more bonus.
  3. Ranged weapons help to kill mobs that hit you hard (hit-and-run tactic).

Launcher PT

Launcher PT – skill in using launchers (Acretia only) and corresponding armor.

How to level: Shoot from rocket launchers. Regular or siege mode doesn’t matter. You must deal more than 3% HP in one hit.

Why it's needed:

  1. Allows equipping higher level weapons and armor
  2. Increases minimum and maximum rocket launcher damage
  3. Increases firing speed with launchers

Purpose:

Launcher armor increases accuracy — very important when using them. Durability is equal to ranged armor.

Unit PT

Unit PT – skill in using MAUs – giant humanoid robots (Bellato only).

How to level: Bellato specialists who become Pilots at level 30 can level this skill by killing mobs using their robot (note – no XP is gained from mobs killed via MAU).

Why it's needed: Increases available MAU parts for upgrades.

Purpose: Non-pilots won’t level this PT. Pilots will naturally level it.

Summon PT

Summon PT – skill to summon and control Animus (Cora only).

How to level: PT increases each time you use an Animus.

Why it's needed: Increases Animus effectiveness (to be clarified).

Purpose: Animus is a strong support for mages choosing the related profession.

Force PT

Force PT – skill in using magic (not available for Acretia). Includes base Force PT and elemental PT (light/dark, fire, water, earth, air). Base PT grows as elemental PT increases.

How to level: Using spells gradually increases this skill.

Why it's needed: Increases spell duration and power, adds 3 FP.

Purpose: Essential for any mage.

Shield PT

Shield PT – skill in using shields.

How to level: Hold a shield. If “Block” appears when hit and you hear a sound – the shield blocked the attack.

Why it's needed:

  1. Allows wearing higher level shields
  2. Increases block chance

Purpose: No damage is taken when hit on a shield (durability unlimited). Significantly increases survivability. Shields may block magic (to be clarified).

Defense PT

Defense PT – your defense level.

How to level: Increases when a mob hits you for more than 3% of your HP.

Why it's needed: Increases HP.

Purpose: More HP means enemies need more effort to defeat you.

Production PT (Weapons/Shields, Armor, Ammo) increases with successful crafting, allowing creation of more complex items. Available only to specialists.

FAQ

Q: What is more important, level or PT? Which PT should I level?
A: Both are important. PT is harder and slower to level. More PT types make your character flexible. Decide what you need.

Q: Max PT points per type?
A: 99. Not all professions can max all PT – see level-based PT tables for details.

Q: PT XX/XX meaning?
A: Current/Max PT for your level. Max depends on class and profession – e.g., Melee PT is lower than Ranged PT for Rangers.

Q: How does max PT increase?
A: Depends on class and profession. After level 30, max rises significantly.

Q: Lots of PT given at 30 and 40 levels, so why bother?
A: Tables show max PT spikes at these levels.

Q: How to know if PT grows?
A: Open character panel (CTRL+C) → PT tab. Percentage increases indicate progress. System messages also show PT gains if not disabled.

Q: Why am I getting so little PT?
A: 0.19% can be significant. Levels rise fast, PT slowly.

Q: PT not growing, what to do?
A: Max PT may be reached for your level. Level up to raise max. If not, hits are too weak/strong for mob.

Q: PT not gained, level almost reached?
A: Die to reduce experience. Strong mobs or poison may help.

Q: How is PT per hit/skill calculated?
A: Depends on level difference with mob. Lower → less, higher → more.

Q: Best places to level PT?
A: Depends on level and class. Experiment. Prefer mobs slightly weaker than you and quiet areas.

Q: Best gear for PT?
A: Depends on your leveling style.

Q: PT leveling approaches?
A: Three approaches, explained below.

Option: "PT first, then level"
Level PT to max before leveling character. Die to lose XP if needed.

Pros:
1) Minimal potion costs
2) More loot
3) Faster class skill leveling

Cons:
1) Often solo
2) Requires careful planning
3) Others may outlevel you

Summary: Cheap, allows focusing on PvP after 40, leveling PT mostly in safe zones.

Option: "Some PT first, finish later"
Moderate secondary PT, class PT enough to equip up to level 40, then level character to 40 and continue PT.

Pros:
1) Gain second profession at 40
2) Effective for PvP and PitBoss hunting

Cons:
1) Expensive
2) Need low-level improved gear for PT
3) Inventory management
4) Limited weapon/armor choice

Option: "Level first, then PT"
Ignore PT except class attack/defense, level fast using team mobs.

Pros:
1) Fast leveling
2) Effective for PvP and PitBoss hunting

Cons:
1) Side PT lost
2) Limited gear choice
3) More potion cost

Q: Fastest approach?
A: Unknown, requires testing. Prefer first approach.

Q: Another method?
A: Three main options exist. Adjust to playstyle.

Q: "Lose PT" meaning?
A: PT too low to deal required damage with available weapons. Class PT important.

Q: PT not lost yet, what to do?
A: 1) Buy best available weapons, accessories, adrenaline items, target weak mobs.
2) Max damage on available weapon, find mutual partner from other race to share XP.

Additional tips:

  • Level Defense best in Melee armor.
  • Use Block with PT weapon for PT and Defense.
  • Throwing knife levels Melee PT, Shield PT, and Defense simultaneously.
  • Wear Melee armor and speed bonus weapon for faster movement.
  • Find quiet leveling spots – explore world.
