Massive Armed Units

Massive Armor Unit (MAU) - Powerful Armored Apparatus

Impressed by the power of the steel Accretians, we decided we should become as strong as them. However, we did not want to alter our own bodies. Then we invented and created special units – MAU (Massive Armored Unit). Only Bellato citizens can operate them within the Novus system.

MAUs are the pinnacle of technical development and engineering skill of Bellato constructors. They were built during the first armed conflicts between the Federation and the Accretia Empire and became the instruments with which Federation warriors could confront powerful and durable robots without changing their natural form.

All MAUs are divided into two classes:

Catapult Chassis for long-range combat: strike enemies from a distance but cannot move.

MAU levels

Bellato Drivers who advance to Armor Rider at level 40 have the ability to upgrade to the Advanced Goliath Configuration. It is stronger and provides devastating close-range damage. Below are some available upgrades that can be purchased from the UNIT NPC:

Goliath Chassis for melee combat: can move and deliver crushing blows to enemies.

MAU levels

MAU HP level is 110,000. While operating a MAU, you cannot use any skills or magical abilities. Any damage taken by the MAU is applied to the unit, not you. However, while inside, you cannot use your personal weapons or equipment.

Bellato Drivers who advance to Armor Rider at level 40 can upgrade to Advanced Catapult Configuration. It is stronger and gives supremacy in battle. Below are some upgrades available for purchase from the UNIT NPC:

Only Drivers or Armor Riders can operate MAUs.

MAU movement

First, you need to buy an ignition key from a Vendor in your starting city or in Solus (third option on the main teleporter).

Two standard options exist: Catapult for long-range and Goliath for melee.

Then acquire ammo for your new unit (both chassis need ammo). This can be done via the “Repair/Upgrade” option from the same Vendor.

MAU ammo

Drag the ignition key from your inventory to the slot to see your MAU's stats. After this, you can operate your MAU.

MAU Driver Guide

The ability to operate a MAU (Massive Armored Unit) is the main distinction of the Bellato Federation. These giant metal robots, piloted from inside, have massive HP but can only be repaired in cities at a high cost. Early gameplay (levels 1–29) is similar to other classes; no special bonuses apply yet.

At level 30 with the Driver profession, the first question arises:

Where to buy a MAU?

MAUs are sold by MAU Dealers in Federation cities. Clicking a dealer opens a menu with three new options (in addition to familiar "Binding Location" and "Quest"):

MAU dealer menu

1) Item Trade – purchase a MAU.

2) MAU Tuning – upgrade your MAU.

3) MAU Delivery – if your MAU is far away, you can have it delivered instantly.

Click Item Trade to purchase a MAU using the standard buy/sell dialog:

Buy MAU

MAU differences?

Goliath – melee robot with booster capability; slow due to size, booster can be crucial.

Catapult – ranged robot with ammo extension capability; weaker defense since it avoids melee.

Can't choose? You can carry up to 4 MAU keys if you have the funds.

Next step: battle monsters with your MAU. Right-click the key to summon your MAU. Use Ctrl + click → "Board MAU". Only three controls matter:

  1. Main weapon switch and ammo display.
  2. Secondary weapon switch and ammo display.
  3. Exit MAU operation.

While piloting, XP is not gained! Only UNIT PT points increase, which improve MAU upgrade options. Upgrades are done via the MAU Tuning dialog:

  2. Main weapon info.
  3. Secondary weapon info.
  4. List of available upgrades for this slot.
  5. Total cost of selected upgrades.
  6. Confirm upgrades.
