Economy System
Economy System
In RF Online, the economy system is dynamic. The economy can experience crises and booms depending on players' actions. This system is one of the most important features of RF Online. It is necessary to maintain balance and preserve competition between the races. Each race has currency exchange points, where players can exchange their race-specific currency for the universal one and vice versa. The universal currency is Platinum, which can be sold to other players, exchanged for general reputation, or spent through local merchants if your race's currency is needed.
The RF Online economy system mirrors the one in the real world. A player buying goods from a merchant automatically pays a tax, just as in real life, and selling items also involves a tax, which naturally affects the price of goods. Every hour, the administration recalculates the economic balance based on price information from goods sold across the server. If one of the races thrives in trade, the prices of goods for that race will steadily rise, and eventually it may lose its leading position. Conversely, if a race experiences a currency shortage, prices during their sales will adjust automatically, allowing players to buy goods at relatively low prices. In addition, the local currency exchange rate may change, allowing poorer races to earn more from mining.

How and where can I exchange my money?
In every Headquarters, there is a Banker who exchanges money. Players can exchange their currency for Platinum with them. The Banker also shows the market value of your currency and how much Platinum you will receive in exchange. The Exchange Rate (currency tab) shows the ratio of Platinum to your currency, Money Holdings show how much Platinum and currency you have, and the Exchange Adjustment shows how much you can get and what you will receive when exchanging currency for another currency or for gold.

What is the racial economic effect?
The race controlling the Mine Craters has a lower exchange tax than the other two. Thus, the value of Platinum compared to your currency decreases, allowing you to exchange at a favorable rate. If your race loses control of the Mines, your race will have a higher exchange rate, meaning you will receive less for your currency. The longer you hold the Mines, the more money your race will accumulate in the long run.
Although this is one of the main features of RF Online, most players won't fully understand the benefits until they reach a very high level, as in the early stages of the game, the market for all races will be highly unstable. You can lose everything or make a fortune, including the risk of losing it all. Those who maintain control of the Mines during the following hours (until the start of the war) will earn better profits, as the exchange tax percentage, as well as gold obtained from sales, will be higher. You will never know if you'll succeed the next day or lose.
Nevertheless, if your race is currently far from peak activity, exchange your native currency for Platinum and wait for better moments to convert Platinum back to your currency. Patience will allow you to earn a decent profit in the future.
